Gender-based violence (GBV) is basically when someone hurts another person because of their gender. It’s super unfair and happens way too much.
People can get hurt in lots of ways: physically, like getting hit or kicked; sexually, like rape or being forced to do stuff; or mentally, like being insulted or threatened. It can also mess with someone’s money or job.
Why does it happen? Well, it’s often because of old-school ideas about men and women, and who’s in charge. Alcohol and drugs can make things worse too.
The damage from GBV is huge. People can get really hurt, feel super down, have problems with their bodies, and lose friends and family.
So, what can we do? We need to change how we think about men and women, teach people better, and help survivors get back on their feet. We also need to make sure the bad guys get caught.
