Uterine Prolapse

Uterine prolapse is a condition where the uterus slips down from its normal position in the pelvis. This can occur due to a variety of factors, including childbirth, aging, menopause, and chronic straining.

Common symptoms associated with uterine prolapse may include pelvic pressure or fullness, a sensation of bulging or lump in the vaginal area, backache, and urinary or bowel dysfunction.

Treatment options for uterine prolapse range from conservative measures to surgical intervention. Pelvic floor exercises, known as Kegels, can help strengthen the pelvic muscles and provide support. In some cases, a pessary, a medical device inserted into the vagina, may be used to support the uterus. For more severe cases, surgical procedures may be considered.
